Section # 14

4) Teaching older children the Plan of Salvation along with Worship commandments etc.

* This is the sweetest.........I have used this system many years in teaching the 5th & 6th grade students in our congregation. This ripe age was very receptive to this type of "Grown-Up" subjects. I really feel that it can be a start into Christianity for many of them

* If possible, each child should get their very own Bible.

* The hope was that the child would have the feeling of comfort when reading and studying in his own special Bible. I even have them write in the margins when necessary. They are always encouraged to bring it to class with them.

* We would set it up with tabs. These are just markers on the edge of the pages to help them find the Books better. Some parents didn't like this step very much so it was alright.

* I would give each child a copy of the small "Chain Reference Study Scriptures" to place on a blank page somewhere in their Bible. If you can get some solid sheet label adhesive paper and run several of these charts off on them they work very well. Just peel and stick. Or you can just glue it in.
* Now you are ready to start your "Chain Reference Study". This will be very similar to the "New Convert's Class".
* I add some of the following teaching aids for this age group.

* Use the blackboard for drawing quick sketches and to make a point.
* Subject Baptism: Let them see where one is actually baptized.
* Subject Lord's Supper: Show them the actual bread and juice and explain.
* Subject singing: Show them how songbooks are laid out.
* Subject contributions: Encourage them to save for the Lord's Day.
* Subject Prayer: Explain how men and women just pray.
* Subject Attendance: Study scriptures here
* Subject Study: Study scriptures here also
